Due to a lack of space, nearly 6 000 disabled children will be forced to stay at home at the beginning of school year 2013 – and this is most likely the tip of the iceberg only.
In a progress report issued in July 2012 (PDF), senators Claire-Lise Campion and Isabelle Debré have estimated that nearly 20 000 disabled children subject to compulsory education are not attending school.

Most of the time practiced between childhood and 15 years old girls, those mutilations - widespread in some countries - have grown in number in Europe, Australia, Canada and the United states, essentially among immigrants from Africa and South-East Asia (2).
